Welcome to Psycho Babel, a blog where psychological concepts and principles become accessible to everyone. The goal of this site is to translate current research in psychology and associated fields to everyday experiences and needs.
My name is Michael J. Gargano, MSEd, CASAC-T, LMHC-LP. Academically I trained as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor at St. Bonaventure University and am pursuing additional PhD level studies in Clinical Psychology at Saybrook University. I hold degrees in religion, philosophy, and counseling. As you will come to find out my interests are interdisciplinary at their core.
The mental health, addictions treatment facilities, and human services agencies for whom I have worked inform my practice as a therapist and blogger. The experiences gained in these settings give depth to the psychological concepts that I will be discussing. My current clinical role is in an inpatient behavioral health unit where I provide counseling services to a wide array of individuals. I am a firm believer in the practical nature of psychology as a means for growth and human development. As a reader of this blog you can expect to see the blending of scholarly research distilled into practical wisdom. You will find interventions that are easy to follow and use in your daily life.
The nature of this blog is designed to be interactive. Comments, feedback, and disagreements are welcomed and encouraged. Please feel free to share these posts with your friends and family to further the conversation. I have one rule to be respectful when commenting on mine or others work. Guest bloggers are also welcome and should email me at email@example.com to propose articles or topics for publication.
Thank you for visiting my blog! I look forward to hearing from you soon.
